The purpose of The Nashville Area United Methodist Foundation is two-fold.
To assist local churches and ministries of local churches with management of long term endowment type funds.
The lending of funds to local churches for capital projects.
Almost everyone is acutely aware that during 2008 and 2009 we have experienced unprecedented volatility in the world economies and markets. As current Chair of our Foundation Board of Directors, I am pleased to report that our Foundation has weathered these storms. Though we are not immune to the recent market downturns, we have outpaced the majority of other like sized foundations in the Callan Small Endowment/Foundation Database. We ranked in the top 54% for the final quarter and we are in the top 20% for the past five years!
I attribute this better than peer average performance to our board, our adherence to a well thought out Investment Policy Statement, and to our Investment Management Consultant, CapGroup.
As the current Chair, I am very proud of our board. Both lay and clergy members are dedicated to the mission of the Foundation and have proven, as evidenced by the Foundation’s performance over the last year, their ability to manage the assets of our Foundation. We ask that you continue to support the ministries of your church and conference through legacies and endowments that extend Christ’s love.
